Gangnam is one of the Korea’s rising city which ignited its popularity by lots of cultural movement. Such as fancy restaurants, club bars, fashion stores and various entertainments keep bringing young generation’s interest. Also as the song ‘Gangnam Style’ help foreigners to notice this city, lots of visitors came to enjoy the city they expected. However, Gangnam city was not a space for assembling cultural sources. It was zoned for office buildings such as bank, construction, and other major companies. This purpose naturally make lots of people to gatherd and commerce, bars are followed to meet worker’s welfare. The problem is that the city was already fulfilled to build new space to cover the overwhelming influx of cultural movement. Even though several musicians, food trucks, and small merchants are doing their jobs, but their area is limited to existing pedestrian roads. To make this situation better, extra space strategy should be required, and also need managing systems to make them survive in high densed city.
Main problem was lack of space for overwhelming cultural potential. Beside, to solve the difficult access of artists toward high densed and high quality is also be considered. It that, we should organize the program with office for managing and consulting artists and small merchants. Also to alleviate awful environment from density and high solids, suggesting green space could be reasonable. After deciding programs, let them spread on common form of building slabs. Next standing slabs up to fit them into limited site area. It doesn’t mean just rotating them, but use the rotated slabs as wall an keep the function of its floor.
This plan shows how layers’ arrangement effect the activities in this buildings. Layers on office sections divide each layer into several walls to use them as working space and pin-up board. The connection of office and green section also created by division. They are functioned as partitions between section and section, or space and space. In green section, it makes resting space, project screen space. This flow connected to performance section. Walls are repeating setting back and front to distributing dynamic spaces for users various works. It could be exhibiting their arts, and can show their foods between walls.
